Wherever you are, half the world away from home or enjoying a much-needed staycation, a dose of fresh air can liven up a dull day. Vacations aren’t always jam packed with exciting adventures, bungee jumping, roller coasters, or all-night dance parties, or being too lax can make a vacation nothing to write home about. Will your postcard to friends say,

“Wish I wasn’t here, my sofa is way better”, unlikely.

There is a happy medium, just go for a leisurely walk. If that’s not quite the pace you desire, there’s bound to be a wooded trail or hills to ascend.

Living in Los Angeles for a decade and a half, I quickly learned one finds walking adventures easily. Angelenos can be territorial. By that, stay long enough at the beach, and you will hear someone say,

“West of the 405, do or die”.

East siders have their own swagger. The rich history of the east side is often overlooked. A future episode, stay tuned for an east side adventure. My tenure in Hollywoodland, was portioned in three very different areas.

In part one, the walking path is one I traveled often, solo treks meandering the beachside streets, walking the dog…
