“Move Over” — Janis Joplin
A solo composition by Janis. Lead track on her posthumous release. A recent find at a record shop on my 3-month road trip, recently completed. I don’t remember what city. It may be New Orleans, Atlanta or Fairhope, AL. I shipped a stack to a friend to preserve the punishing summer heat through much of the upper Midwest. Safe and sound. A first play. A melancholy album, poetically begins with a rocker. Janis’ soul is in those grooves. Her voice is pure. A lotta southern soul. Her deep Texas swamper roots. She has the gift. My nomination for rock music royalty.
