Thank you for composing your piece about Silicon Valley and the disparity between the tech community and the homeless. I was born and raised in Oakland, another city now highly influenced and sought after real estate for the “hungry appetites” of tech and tech adjacent industries.
My experience as a young adult, early 20s was during the dotcom crash. Your comments about the affluent and educated feeling enough pressure to create semi precious stones is much the same as when I was in high school, unfortunately to your point, there is an interest in helping those affected whether it is societal or economic, yet not enough is being done is real. The best we can do is discuss solutions with as many people and then find a way to act in a way with more lasting impact than a stipend to give to a charity. Volunteerism is a great start…
