My Birthday Gift This Year, I Got a Pandemic
A Silver Lining in Difficult Times
A Grim headline. A positive sub-headline. Funny, not funny. Birthdays are meant to be memorable. Birthdays are a day to be selfish, with in reason. It is the one day all year, like an atomic clock, friends, family, acquaintances new and old heap praise and good fortune on multiple platforms, digital and IRL. We can cash in on freebies, desserts at local restaurants, or any number of marketing ploys disguised to get us to spend a little to get a bonus. Ideally friends are footing the bill.
Not this year.
Life threw all of us a colossal curveball. A few days ago, the germ of an idea (pun intended) got me thinking. A local news story about a 10-year old girl’s unique instant mood changing birthday surprise. She was understandably down because her birthday party, the first after only celebrating single digit birthdays was canceled. Her grandmother dreamed up a brilliant idea to pick her spirits up and show the rest of us Aries (and likely for some Taurus’s in the weeks ahead) life can change, yet there is always potential, like this year’s edition to make our lives brighter. Her Grandma rallied her friend’s parents to ride by, honking their horns, shouting heartfelt birthday well wishes accompanied by presents delivered curbside. Who wouldn’t want a birthday procession making public…
