Interesting perspective. As a fellow person of European heritage who grew up in Oakland, CA culture is celebrated, schools, street names, ethnic communities with many residents who don’t speak English or need to to thrive. Your point makes a lot of sense particluarly about obesity and depression. Yet, where we are born and raised also frames one’s views on race, culture and what America really means to each of us. To me, it is a land of opportunity tarnished with a sad legacy of a few who imposed their harsh will on people because of their skin pigment.

It has nothing to do with me however I don’t overlook the disasterous wake of slavery, segregation and the current social crisis. It’s real and it’s good we (everyone) are willing talk about it with civility
