Cool Gadgets: 80’s Tech
1st Episode:
Yesterday I fell in a digital rabbit hole. How did I get there? I was looking for a new set of adjustable wrenches online. The goal was not achieved. A day later, my wobbly screws still mock me. That’s alright, there’s a “Construction Junction” across the highway and a “Behemoth Mart”[1] a skipped rock going southbound. Another day that honey do task will be completed.
Somewhere soon after beginning my search, a phone call disrupted my laser focus. A friend called to share the most amazing news, maybe ever.
He says, “Remember the sleek, pocket-sized Sony Walkman cassette players?”
I reply, “Yeah, mine was silver and my headphones were yellow.”
“Well, I found one yesterday in a pawn shop.”
“Nice. Why were you in a pawn shop?”
“To look at some guitars.”
I ask, “Did you buy a guitar?”
He replies, “No, I got the Walkman, dude!”
“How much did it cost?”
“You don’t want to know.”
“Okay” What was the first tape you played? I asked.
“I don’t have any tapes”, says He.
“Wanna go music shopping?”
