The internet abounds with success coaches, business gurus, top sales pros and so on. A digital traffic jam, who to follow and entrust their message will genuinely result in a leap forward is a difficult quandary. There is no plug and play path to long term success. We all have nuances about our careers, for example some tactics are barred by public sector regulators. We also have personal hang-ups about some methods to increase our stature because past experiences limit our willingness to push the boundaries.

Some of the best advice I received came from a conference call from a top sales executive in a small New England town. He shared his path to success. His formula he stated wisely is not for everyone. His story resonated because he started with no clients, recent transplant from a different region of the country, he was at a starting line. Essentially where I was at the time. The takeaways I learned and stay with me near a decade later, is to experiment, borrow ideas, craft your version and be committed to the process. Using his words of advice, it has been an interesting work/life odyssey. Before dispensing my thoughts, it is important to share, I’m not yet at my finish line in this marathon.
