A few years ago, I met a woman, the classic, meeting eyes across the room (a rooftop in this instance).
We dated a few months. She shared her ongoing circumstance with an ex stalking her. Making her life miserable most of the time.
She asked about two months in if I was communicating with her ex. I told her I hadn't. She asked two more times before I told her I had no intention of talking to him. The next and last time she asked I told her I can't continue like this. I shared I understood her valid trust issues and the only way to confirm I'm being truthful is to not call her anymore. I deleted her number. I haven't talked to her since.
Occasionally I think how she's doing. It is unfortunate however I feel about it, she is the one coping with a bad situation.
Despite our good intentions there are sometimes factors beyond control any one of us can be deemed a creep, right or wrong (misinterpreted is a better word). Some people are intentionally creeps. Those who are absolutely need to get the in your face call out and shut down.
Many people regardless or their age have either never had it or lost their social resilience. The world is now a digital first society. Makes it tougher to make decisions in social situations. My two cents.
